the people

Warm and hospitable:

The current population of Grenada is 110,000, descendents of African, European and East-Indian; the main language is English, but many islanders speak a French patois.

Grenadians proudly paint their country's colours (red, yellow, green) on wall murals or their own homes. Lush foliage, fruit trees, and vegetable gardens are interspersed between residences, whether it's a multi-level dwelling, or smaller cement block houses. Although reggae, soca and pop music are popular, calypso is the true music of Grenada, especially during Carnival.
